Electrotherapies

Advanced technology for targeted healing

At IP Veterinary Physiotherapy, we offer a range of safe, non-invasive electrotherapies for animals, providing powerful support for injury recovery, pain management, and mobility enhancement. These therapies use carefully controlled energy waves, such as light, magnetic fields, or electrical currents, to stimulate tissue repair and relieve discomfort.

Our mobile service covers Cheshire, Manchester, and surrounding areas, bringing trusted laser therapy for pets and other electrotherapy treatments directly to your stable or home.

What is electrotherapy for animals?

Electrotherapy for animals involves the use of therapeutic devices to promote healing and reduce pain in soft tissues and joints. At IP Vet Physiotherapy, we regularly use the following evidence-based modalities:

Laser therapy:

A safe and effective treatment that uses focused light to stimulate cell regeneration, reduce inflammation and speed up healing. Commonly used for wounds, tendon injuries, arthritis and post-operative care.

PEMFT (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy):

Delivers electromagnetic pulses to enhance blood flow, reduce inflammation, and promote tissue repair. Particularly useful for treating musculoskeletal conditions, including joint stiffness, fractures, and chronic pain.

TENS/NMES

(Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation / Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation):

These electro-stimulation methods help relieve pain, stimulate muscle activity, and prevent muscle wastage during recovery.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound is a non-invasive treatment used to support the healing of soft tissue injuries. This advanced technique uses high-frequency sound waves to penetrate deep into muscles, tendons, and ligaments, stimulating blood flow, reducing inflammation, and promoting tissue repair. It’s particularly effective for conditions such as muscle strains, tendonitis, and chronic joint issues like arthritis.

Each treatment is tailored to your animal’s specific condition, ensuring a targeted approach that supports natural healing processes.

When is electrotherapy used?

Electrotherapies are suitable for a wide variety of conditions and species.

We regularly use them in the treatment of:

  • Post-operative recovery

  • Tendon and ligament injuries

  • Wound healing

  • Arthritis and chronic joint issues

  • Muscle atrophy or weakness

  • Back pain, stiffness or general discomfort

Whether you're managing a long term condition or supporting post-injury rehabilitation, laser therapy for animals and PEMFT offer a gentle yet effective solution.
